The Belgian Center for Fruit Growing (Pcfruit), together with the Universities of Hasselt and Maastricht, is starting a study on the usefulness of fruits in the production of building materials or textiles. This is reported by the Dutch Fruit Growers Organization (NFO).
Fibers from plants such as hemp are already being used as insulating material in construction. Pcfruit wants to explore whether substances found in fruit varieties could also find new uses. For fruit growers, this can be useful when, for example, there is an additional destination for fruits that are currently being processed industrially.
This includes ferulic acid. “This acid is found in several types of fruit. For example, it can be used in the textile industry to make clothing biodegradable,” Pcfruit Managing Director Dani Bylemans told VRT radio.
In addition to Pcfruit’s collaboration with the Universities of Hasselt and Maastricht, the pilot center is collaborating with the textile innovation center Centexbel in Ghent and Compas Agro in Venlo. The province of Limburg, Flanders and the European Union are jointly allocating 4 million euros for the study. This period is three years.

Огромното мнозинство членови на FNV кои работат во хортикултурата на оранжерии не се согласуваат со конечниот предлог на работодавците.
Според синдикатот, постои значителен јаз меѓу конечната понуда на работодавачите и барањата за плата на ФНВ. Претставниците на работодавачите предлагаат зголемување на платите за 3 отсто од 1 јануари 2023 година и за 2 отсто од 1 јули 2023 година. Директорката Линда Слагтер од FNV Agrarisch Groen тврди дека со овој предлог бројот на вработени сигурно ќе се намали за 5 отсто .
Слагтер одлуката на членовите на ФНВ да не се согласат на ова ја нарекува храбра. Таа исто така смета дека лојалноста на вработените кон нивните работодавци премногу често се става на тест. „Ние сме разочарани од ова и бараме од работодавците да излезат со подобра понуда“.
Општа цена компензација
ФНВ бара зголемувањето на трошоците за живот да се одрази на платите. Дополнително, синдикатот предлага во колективниот договор да се вметне и општиот ценовен надоместок. Слагтер вели дека FNV разбира дека и на градинарите со стакленички им е тешко, но таа исто така гледа дека се повеќе вработени повеќе не знаат како финансиски да го поддржат ова.
„Ова води кон незадоволство на работното место, а конечниот предлог на работодавачите за колективен договор не ја подобрува ситуацијата“, рече извршниот директор на синдикатот. Според ФНВ, просечно околу 35,000 вработени се занимаваат со хортикултура на оранжерии. За време на шпицот на сезоната, оваа бројка е многу поголема.
